In March we visited the young startup HHX.blue in the Hamburg Finhaven. In the brand new Hamburg Fintech Hub and co-working space, Julia Klaus and Andrea Beyer introduced their idea in a joint presentation.
HHX.blue is a digital ship finance and investment ecosystem.
As an international ecosystem for members from the ship finance and ship operations industries HHX supports and accelerates global business relationships between its members.
Julia and Andrea explained that HHX.blue is to further develop the global shipping finance market together with established and new partners.
It’s a market that has undergone major changes in recent years: Many traditional ship financing banks have reduced their portfolios. Bank regulatory requirements prevent their return to known levels. However, the need for financing for ships remains.
HHX.blue will uses state-of-the-art technology, investors and borrowers to explore new possibilities in maritime finance. The platform enables project participants to engage in sound business that would not have been possible or costly in the traditional way. In addition to new sources of financing, shipowners are given the opportunity to finance smaller lending volumes that were previously unavailable. Alternative investors get professional access to attractive ship projects.
Huge thanks to our hosts, Julia Klaus and Andrea Beyer and also to the founders, Olaf Danckwerts – it was an amazing evening and we’d love to follow your development in the future.
